Need to Talk to Someone?
When things are going well we don’t even really think about it. We move through our lives with an invisible expertise.
But sometimes our capacity to cope falters.
Words like depression and anxiety may help us communicate the distress we experience when the gestures that should be second-nature feel ’loud’ and jarring. Diagnoses like PTSD or OCD are our attempt to map the ways in which wfrom time to time we seem to find ourselves no longer ‘at home’ in our world.
Beyond ‘Fixing’
While I respect many clinical mental health protocols for the relief they may bring they often seem to treat us as if we were an assemblage of ‘faulty circuits.’
I am not a technician. I will not try and ‘debug’ the way you think and feel. Instead I offer to look with you at who you are and how you are in your world. My commitment to this way of working is informed by the upheaval of losing my sight in my forties. That experience taught me that when our familiar way of being in the world is interrupted we don’t need ‘fixing.’ We need to be understood.
Whether you are navigating a general sense that ’things don’t add up anymore’ or a specific psychiatric diagnosis I offer confidential psychotherapy and counselling in Bloomsbury, Central London (WC1), as well as online.
My hope is that through our collaboration your perspective will shift and you will find your way back to a life that feels fluid and once again your own.
If you are ready to take the first step I invite you to arrange a free initial consultation. Please get in touch, I’m ready to listen.
